$10 Bill to Get a Makeover by 2020
President Alexander Hamilton is getting a makeover, so to speak. Hamilton is the face on the $10 bill and there will be a new $10 bill in circulation in 2020.
The bill will be redesigned to have a raised tactile feature, making it easier for people who are blind to identify it. It will be the first U.S. bill to have this feature.
A spokeswoman for the Treasury Department confirmed the bill will be redesigned, but had no comment on Hamilton remaining on the bill. You may recall there is an on-going petition to have Jackson removed from the $20 bill and replaced with a woman.
Another reason for the new $10 bill is to make it harder to counterfeit. The $10 bill was also selected because it is one of the most used bills and the Treasury Department thinks it will be the bill to use to have the smoothest transition.
