He is sometimes called “Golden Bolt’ but his real name Hidekichi Miyazaki and he is the Guinness World Record holder as the oldest competitive sprinter.

Miyazaki is 105 years old and recently finished a 100-meter race in 42.22 seconds but was disappointed in his results. He ran the race at the Kyoto Masters Athletic Autumn Competition. Going into the race he was hoping to run the race in 35 seconds. He blames his 42 second time on not being in good enough shape.

He started participating in track and field in his 90’s and ever since then he has been training and running every day. He says doctors have given him a clean bill of health and expects to compete for at least another two to three years.
