New England Patriots Cut Super Bowl MVP and Other Fan Favorites

As opening day gets closer, the New England Patriots are getting down to a 53 man roster. Today they made some surprising cuts of veterans. Among those let loose, was former Super Bowl MVP, wide reciever Deion Branch. Also, long time center Dan Koppen was given his walking papers. as was back-up QB Brian Hoyer and safety James Ihedigbo.

Tom Brady's backup now is second year player, Ryan Mallett, who has looked very shaky in the pre-season.

With Branch and Koppen now off the roster, there are just two players still with the team who have won a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots: Tom Brady and Vince Wilfork.
