It's the 11th annual 'Mardi Gras' celebration this Saturday in Hallowell. Activities will be underway all this week, leading up the big parade on Saturday afternoon. This is a great event for the entire family. Here's what will be going on in Hallowell during the 'Mardi Gras' celebration.The town will be alive with great live music, food and drink specials. Stop in one of the locations along the waterfront to enjoy, including, Hattie's, Easy Street, The Liberal Cup, Hoxter's, Higher Grounds, The Wharf, Joyce's, Slates and Francesca's.

Prior to the parade at 4:30, there will be a mask making contest, with masks due by this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Hubbard Free Library. On Saturday, get ready for the parade with bead making from noon until 4 and children's and adult mask making and face painting from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Harlow Gallery on Water Street.

That all leads up to the parade at 4:30! There will be a custom contest with prizes given for the best costume, best mask and most festive costume.
