Making their way through the Great Basin National Park in Nevada, archeologists came across an 1873 Winchester rifle. The Rifle, a Winchester model 1873 repeating rifle, was found leaning against a tree. It's 132 years old but it’s not known how long it has been leaning against the three.

It does show a lot of wear from being exposed to the sun, snow and rain for many years but they haven’t figured out who it belonged to. The rifle’s serial number corresponds with records held at the Center for the West and shows a shipping date of 1882.

Park personnel are scanning through old newspapers trying to determine who left the rifle and why it was leaning against the tree and why they never returned to get it.
