In the former Ethiopian kingdom of Aksum, the remains of a 2,000 year old sleeping woman was found. The woman has been named ‘sleeping beauty’.

The skeleton of the woman was posed in a resting position with her chin laid in her hand. A Roman-era bronze mirror was placed before her face and there was a bronze cosmetic spoon and eyeliner surrounding the corpse.

Others were found during the dig, several warriors clad in battle gear that, they believe, died in battle. The dig is less than 2 months old so more information is coming. They have not been able to determine the age of the woman but they believe everything left for her was for comfort in the afterlife.
