2016 Wasn’t ALL Bad

Everyone is being such a 'Debbie Downer' when it comes to 2016 being over.  I, on the other hand, had a GREAT year and will walk away a better person as such.  Through everything, there is always a silver lining.  Where there's lemons...there's lemonade.  No, really.  Don't be so negative about 2016.

I realize many celebrities lost their lives in 2016.  But really...that's sucky for them...not you.  If anything that gives you something to live for.  It shows that days aren't guaranteed.  Life is short.  Live like you are dying (yup, stole that one from Tim McGraw).

2016 was a HUGE turning point for me.  I found a doctor that not only changed my quality of life...but also my daughter's quality of life.  We've conquered massive mountains that many are not able to...and it is my goal in 2017 to help those get to where I am with their battle with chiari malformation.

I brought over 130 people together to raise awareness for chiari with the 1st Annual Conquer Chiari Walk Across America in Central Maine!!  I'm so excited to start planning the 2nd Annual...2017 can't get here soon enough.  We walked in 2 huge parades to spread the word about chiari malformation...as a result, 2 people have reached out to me and have since received treatment from my doctor in New York.

I worked with Laura Benedict, not once...but TWICE this year, to raise money for my fellow chiarians, Connor & Charlee Sawtelle at the Red Barn.  I learned that we have an AMAZING community.  Through my own chronic pain (yes, I still have lots of pain)...I find it therapeutic to help others and see others helping others.  It's a beautiful world!

While there's a lot I could wallow about in my own self pity...I find it better for my well-being to not dwell on what I can't control.  By doing so, I'm reminded of the great things that came with 2016!  Find your passion!
