Golf season is just around the corner in Maine and it's time to hone your putting skills. Starting this Saturday (MARCH 4th) and running for 6 weeks will be the 2nd annual Master the Putt event at Lisa's Restaurant on Bangor Street in Augusta.

What is the Master the Putt Tournament? It is a fun filled event that lets you test your skills weekly in challenging holes set up inside of Lisa's lounge and it's all for a great cause, the Augusta Food bank. Some of the weekly holes set up last year included an Augusta East Side rotary hole, and the challenging Sand Hill hole, pictured below.

The cost last year was 5 putts for 3 dollars, but Tina Morang of Lisa's told us she is easy to negotiate with, as it is for such a great cause. There will be weekly prizes, raffles and drink and food specials.

At the end of the 6 weeks, all the people who got a hole in one during the tourney will putt of for the green jacket and bragging rights for the year. There will also be a banquet at the end of the tourney. Some of the great prizes include a pair of tickets to the Pro/Am tourney at the Deutsche Classic Tournament just outside of Boston in late August, and also a pair of tickets to the final round. Other great prizes awarded to all who participate.

All proceeds go to the Augusta Food Bank, which does such a great job helping feed our friends and neighbors who are in need. So shake off the winter blues and get to Lisa's and try your luck. You'll be helping out a great local cause and you might just win some great prizes.
