Yesterday, the Waterville City Council sat down and got a good look at the proposed  police department budget, a $166,000 increase over the current budget. Police Chief Joseph Massey sent the budget to the council for approval and the increases will be going towards benefits and items including health insurance costs, according to CentralMaine.com

The administration budget, which represents the majority of the increase, includes a raise in retirement costs, health insurance increases, and the departments interest in purchasing a police cruiser. Specific costs can be seen here.

Other departments that presented budgets yesterday were Waterville Public Library, Robert LaFleur Municipal Airport, parks and recreation and human resources.
