City officials in Augusta are planning to vote on a proposal to prevent medical marijuana caregivers from selling marijuana to their patients in the residential neighborhoods of Augusta.

This proposal would include grandfathering current businesses, allowing them to continue their operations for an undisclosed amount of time. However, according to Centralmaine.com, at least 5 counselors indicate they do not want it to continue in any capacity, and have asked an attorney to draft a ban.

Many counselors did say they would be willing to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to open in commercial zones in Augusta.
