Last night at 6:03 p.m. a three-vehicle crash on the Memorial Bridge forced the Augusta Police to close the bridge for about 30 minutes. Police cruisers with their flashing blue lights blocked traffic from entering the bridge on both sides of the Kennebec River.

Traffic was rerouted to the Calumet Bridge at Old Fort Western and down Water Street downtown. Thankfully no injuries were reported. Vehicles were towed from the accident scene and there was no damage to the bridge.
