BANGOR, Maine --The Orono man accused of killing Glenburn teenager Nichole Cable pleaded not guilty on Wednesday during a brief appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

Kyle Dube, 20, is charged with intentional or knowing murder and kidnapping in conneciton with the death of Cable, a 15-year-old sophomore at Old Town High School. Shackled today in the courtroom, Dube pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Last week, the State Medical Examiner's Office released its ruling that Cable died of  "asphyxia due to compression of the neck.”

Dube was indicted last month, and has been held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail since turing himself in on an unrelated charge.

Police say Dube used social media to pretend he was someone else in order to lure Cable to his vehicle on Mother's Day. Cable's body was discovered in a wooded area in Old Town about a week after she disappeared.

Text messages sent prior to Cable's death indicated Dube "tried to kiss and grope" the teenager the day before her disappearance.

If convicted, Dube faces between 25 years and life in prison.
