It was a night of 'Idol Requests' on 'American Idol'. Viewers of the hit Fox television show picked the two songs that each of the top five performed last night. Overall, America, you did a great job picking the songs. Here's my take on last night.

Round One:

Alex Preston: 'Sweater Weather' by The Neighborhood. Alex did a solid job, it did lack a little bit of energy.

Caleb Johnson: 'Don't Want To Miss A Thing' by Aerosmith. It was vocally good with some big notes, but it just didn't measure up to the awesome performances that Caleb has done this season.

Jessica Muese: 'Human' by Christina Perri. Jessica showed growth with her on stage presence and emotion. She hit a few bad notes, but overall, it was very good.

Sam Woolf: 'Sing' by Ed Sheeran. Vocally, it was decent, but again Sam is a little sleepy and boring on stage.

Jena Irene: 'My Body' by Young The Giant. I didn't know this song, but Jena gives a good performance. Keith Urban really is a big Jena fan. I really didn't care for the song, but Jena did a good job.

Round Two:

Alex: 'Say Something' by Great Big World. This was Alex's best performance. The song fit Alex's voice and style perfectly.

Jena: 'Valerie' by Amy Winehouse. It had a retro feel and Jena's 'smoky, jazz tone' should have worked better with the song. It was just a decent performance.

Sam: 'How To Save A Life' The Fray. Sam showed some improvement over round one. He had a few pitch problems and the beginning was bad. I think Sam was the weakest of the night.

Jessica: 'Summertime Sadness' by Lana Del Rey. It was one of her best performances. She vocally was very good and the stage presence was there.

Caleb: 'Still Of The Night' by Whitesnake. No Meatloaf America, really? Caleb was spectacular! This was rocking.

My guess is Sam is going home tonight.

Here are some of the best performances from last night.
