All parents go through it...and I'm no different. We all wish we could stop time at a particular moment. Where has the time gone? When did they grow up? Do they still need us? There are simple answers for those questions...Time has gone by so fast. No matter how much summer is left it's never long enough to keep them home and play.

They grew up right before our eyes. I asked Anderson "When did you grow up?" He said "Mama, I'm going to be 6. I had to do it sometime." I guess he was right. Yes, they still need us...to make them get up in the morning. To make sure they eat and brush their teeth and wear matching socks. To make sure they get their homework done, to talk with their teachers to ask if there is anything more we can do for them to help them learn better, to be there to listen to them if they have a problem. To help them grow...even though you wish they would stay this age forever...

So for every parent who has had tears well up in their eyes at the sight of their little one walking into that big school all by themselves, who sees their child turn around and wave goodbye and walk through the doors of learning into a world where you can't watch them every second to make sure they're okay...I know exactly how you feel.  Happy first day of first grade, Anderson. I can't wait to hear all about it when you come home.
