The new format of 'American Idol' is very cruel as the contestants don't know until their name is announced if they are safe and then they have to sing. This has led to some very shaky performances. Just my two cents. Plus, the show is very rushed this season. Now on to who made the top12 and how they did.

1. Sarina-Joi Crowe: She had been one of my favorite singers this season but last night she was off-pitch the whole song. It wasn't very good. C-

2. Rayvon Owen: Silky smooth vocals, not flashy, just crisp and clear vocals. I liked it. A-

3. Daniel Seavey: The 15-year made the top 12 thanks to many tone deaf teenage girls. He's just not ready for this. The performance was so-so high school talent show in quality. D-

4. Maddie Walker: Kind of surprised she made it. I like the tone of her voice but she is far from being polished. She did a good, solid job last night. B.

5. Tyanna Jones: She has a rich, full-voice. It seems slightly off to me at times. The judges called her a star. I'll give her a B.

6. Nick Fradiani: The oldes of the contestants and one of the best performers. Radio quality voice and he played guitar. B+

7. Jax: She started out great on the piano making the Beatles song her own and then it went a little downhill from there. Still a strong performance. B.

8. Qassim Middleton: More showman, less vocalist. His vocals were sacrificed for his running all over the stage. D+

9. Clark Beckham: Awesome job. Soulful vocals without over singing the song. All the judges loved it and JLo called it the best vocals of the night. He's a younger Harry Connick Jr!  A

10. Joey Cook: The quirky young lady with blue hair. She is different but what I don't like are the judges calling artistry and equating it to singing well. I wonder what Simon would think of her? C

The last two contestants are picked by the judges. I guessed correctly on who they'd pick and disagreed 100%

11. Quentin Alexander: Jennifer loves him, he's good but I would have went with Mark Andrews. He sang well and cried at the end of his song. Performance grade B.

12. Adanna Duru: Bad choice judges. I would have went with Alexis Gomez. She completely over sang her song and shouted, yelled and was pitchy. Horrible. D-

Here are the videos from my favorite performances from last night.
