Season 14 chugs along on American Idol and last night the top 8 had a wide open theme of the Billboard Hot 100. Florida Georgia Line and Jason Derulo were mentors. Here's my take on last nights show. Plus, American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson performed.

1. Jax: She sings Poker Face by Lady Gaga and she made it the song too much like a novelty song. She has a good voice and a large fan base, so she'll be safe, but last night wasn't good. D+

2. Nick: Takes on Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. He was solid, good but not spectacular. Jennifer Lopez gushed over the performance. Keith really liked it. Harry was lukewarm. I'll give Nick a solid B.

3. Quentin: He sings Latch by Sam Smith. Quentin, in my opinion, has become the most improved contestant on the show. He was good but not great. Solid B.

4. Joey: She takes on Like a Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus and guess what the judges said the same thing I thought! She doesn't have the power in her voice and that ruined the chorus. Her act is wearing thin. C-.

5. Clark: The crowd was clearly shouting Clark's name and he has to be the overwhelming favorite. He sings Make It Rain and his vocals were fantastic. He looks like a young Harry Connick Jr. I'll give Clark an A-.

6. Tyanna: She sings Stay by Rhianna. At 16-years old she has such a rich tone to her voice. Her voice cracked slightly as she tried to keep her composure. Very good job. B+

That means Rayvon and Qassim are the bottom two.

Rayvon sings Fire To The Rain and he has a good voice, he's just not connecting with the audience.

Qaasim can't sing. Jennifer Lopez can tell me all day that he can but he really isn't good.

America saves Rayvon for the second week in a row.

Here's Florida Georgia Line's performance along with Clark Beckham.
