Andy Capwell’s ‘American Idol’ Recap: The Top Ten

Ryan Seacrest announced that the season 15 winner of American Idol will be crowned in just six weeks. That means contestants will be eliminated at a breakneck speed. The top 14 are instantly cut to the top ten. Going home are Manny Torres, Thomas Stringfellow, Jeneve Rose Mitchell and Jenn Blosil. I was surprised that Jenn was eliminated. Here's how the top ten performed.

1. Olivia Rox: 'Unconditionally' by Katy Perry. Excellent tone, crazy range, this young lady has to be one of the final four. 9.5 out of 10.

2. Gianna Isabella: 'Listen' by Beyonce. You can hear the potential and power in her voice, she just is too young and sometimes off pitch. 6 out of 10.

3. Lee Jean: 'Skinny Love' by Bon Iver. I am not familiar with the song, but Lee does an alright job. He just doesn't have the vocal chops to compete with some of the top ten. 6 out of 10.

4. Avalon Young: 'Stitches' by Shawn Mendes. It was pretty good, not much range needed for this song. She's got a radio friendly voice. 6.5 out of 10.

5. Dalton Rapatonni: 'Hey There Delilah' by Plain White T's. Cue the screaming girls...good energy, natural on stage, judges loved him. Final four. 7.5 out of 10.

6. Tristan MacIntosh: 'Nothin' Like You' by Dan + Shay. She was great with Rascal Flatts but was only so-so with this effort. You can hear a great tone in her voice, but I think it came down to picking a song that wasn't right for her. 6.5 out of 10.

7. MacKenzie Bourg: 'I See Fire' by Ed Sheeran. He's in tune, radio friendly and seems very likeable. Early dark horse. 8 out of 10.

8. LaPorsha Renae: 'Diamonds' by Rihanna. Her wig seemed that it was ready to fall off. She's got major vocal talent. The judges and crowd go wild. 9 out of 10.

9. Sonika Vaid: 'Bring Me Life' by Everesence. What a phenomenal job! The crowd went wild after LaPorsche and Sonika kept it going. Vocally flawless and showed major strides in her stage presence. Best performance on the night! 10 out of 10.

10. Trent Harmon: 'Like I Can' by Sam Smith. very good job, falsetto was different if not too much at times. Still very solid. 8 out of 10.

Kelly Clarkson then took the stage and performed one of the best performances ever on the show. A song called 'Piece by Piece' . Stunning Kelly!
