In a season where critics have said the talent wasn't up to par, the top eight all seemed to put it all together for a very good show last night! The theme was 'From Then To Now', the top eight sang the same song from their initial auditions. Here's my recap.

1. Jessica: She sang an original song called 'Blue Eyed Lie'. It was a solid song and even stronger vocals. I'll give Jessica an 8.5 out of 10.

2. C.J.: He sang 'Soul Shine' by the Allman Brothers. This was by far his best performance since the live shows. He was in pitch! C.J. gets an 7.5 out of 10.

3. Sam: His audition song was 'Lego House' and again another strong performance! This was the most comfortable he's looked on stage and Sam does have a great recording voice. 8.5 out of 10.

4. Malaya: She sings some Aretha Franklin! 'Ain't No Way'. It seemed like she missed her vocal cue to start singing, other than that it was pretty good. 7 out of 10.

5. Dexter: He sings a Brett Eldredge song called 'One Mississippi'. This was my favorite performance of the night. Harry Connick Jr., who has not been a Dexter fan all season, actually said that Dexter 'sang the cr*p out of that song.' 10 out of 10.

6. Jena: She takes on Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep'. She changes up the song, vocally she was very strong, didn't love the changes. Still a very good job, 8 out of 10.

7. Caleb: He sings Aretha Franklin's 'Chain Of Fools'. Caleb tries to infuse some rock with soul and vocally he was strong, but I only liked it and didn't love it. Caleb also seems to be getting very full of himself. 7.5 out of 10.

8. Alex: He sings an original song called 'Fairytales'. The song itself was kind of weak, but Alex did a good job performing. Alex is hard to watch, he makes some weird facial expressions while he sings. Still a good job, 7 out of 10.

The Idols also were paired up to sing duets, got to fill two hours!

Jena and Alex sang 'Give Me A Reason' Jena completely overpowered Alex.
Jessica and Caleb sang 'Stop Dragging My Heart Around'. They nailed it.
Malaya and Sam sing 'Lucky' and it wasn't that good.
Dexter and CJ sing 'Alright' by Darius Rucker and it was just, well, alright.

Tonight on the results show, American Idol alumni Chris Daughtry returns!

Here's Dexter Roberts with 'One Mississippi'
