Army: Shooter Injured Self, No Others On Va. Base

According to the Associated Press, the Army says a female soldier with a gun inside a key building on a central Virginia base turned the gun on herself, causing an injury, but didn't wound any others.

The Army says in a news release that early reports indicate she fired one shot Monday morning at Fort Lee. The base temporarily went on lockdown. Officials say she was inside a four-story building that is the headquarters for the Army's Combined Arms Support Command.

Officials say the shooter was taken to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center and her condition is not known. VCU confirms that it received a patient but did not give other details.

Fort Lee is 25 miles south of Richmond and 130 miles from Washington. The military says it's the Army's third-largest training site.
