It doesn’t matter what kind of pet you own, they are going to cost you money. Some pets are more expensive than others and this guideline may help you decide if you want a pet.

The ASPCA put together a chart so you can see the cost of pet food, toys, collars, license, medical and other cost for pets.

The most expensive pet to own is a large dog, costing you $1,843 a year. Dogs in general were the most expensive with medium dogs at $1,580 and small dogs at $1,314.

Rabbits came in second on the chart costing $1,055 a year followed by cats at $1,035 per year.

The second cheapest pet to own were small birds with an annual cost of $270 per year and the cheapest, a fish at $235 per year.
