The city where Olympia Snowe grew up and represented as a state lawmaker honored her on Wednesday. The City of Auburn Mayor issued a proclamation declaring Jan 2nd as '"Olympia Snowe Day.' It was Snowe’s final day full day in office.

Snowe moved to Auburn as a child, graduated from Edward Little High School and represented the city in the Maine House and Senate. She went on to serve 34 years in the U.S. House and Senate. Snowe was also the first lady of Maine in the early 90’s. Snowe’s life is a fairly amazing story of tragedy and success. The mayor hopes to create something more permanent to honor Snowe and her service to Auburn and to Maine.
