Dan Emery and Myles Chung will be setting out this January in a cross-country trek across America on Honda Ruckus scooters. Why? To raise awareness about hunger in America.The Augusta residents trek that will start in January 2014 in Boston is planned to last for nearly a year, going through 48 states and exploring hunger issues and solutions.

They'll be riding five-horsepower Honda Ruckus motor scooters, that have a top speed for 40 miles per hour.

During the trip they plan on visiting farms, schools, food banks, shelters, Rotary Clubs, credit unions and other groups working to end hunger.

Dan Emery, 30, is a current member of the Augusta City Council, his term will be ending in January. Dan works at Maine State Credit Union and is a member of the Augusta Rotary.

Myles Chung is 21 and works at Sweet Chili Thai Restaurant in Augusta and is taking college courses and hopes to become a writer.
