Just as the first snowstorm of the year hits central Maine, the Augusta Community Warming Center is open for the winter season. The center is located on Front Street in downtown Augusta, across from the gazebo in Augusta's Waterfront Park.

The center will be open daily from 9a.m. to 4p.m. through March 31st. The warming center averaged about 20 visitors a day last year, and this year the demand could be even greater. The Augusta Community Warming Center is supported by the United Way of Kennebec Valley, the city and several churches and non-profit organizations. The center features a game room, hot coffee and not only provide a place to warm up but to provide a social outlet. Rob Gordon from the Augusta Community Warming Center joined us this morning on the morning buzz on B-98.5, hear what he had to say about the center.
