When I’m not part of the end of your day, I’m keeping track of what’s going on in the world of racing. Local, NASCAR, Indy, dirt, etc. Also, I’m (what I want to call) an avid road biker. The seacoast has a ton of great riding, and I’m looking forward to getting back on these roads. That’s enough for here. Why I Won’t Win The Powerball
Tonight, there's a record Powerball drawing, and we spent a decent chunk of time fielding calls about what people would do with the money. When Sarah asked me, I sputtered for an answer. See, I hadn't given it much thought, as I don't play the lottery.

Couple Names Baby Eclipse After…You Guessed It
When it comes to our first and middle names, we're all at the will of our parents. Sometimes, this is unfortunate, as in the case of baby hashtag. Parents also have timed their newborns to enter the world as the first baby of the year. Baby Eclipse is a combination of the two...

Much Needed Rain For Central Maine
Starting the weekend with rain is usually met with the usual groans. Not so much for central and coastal Maine. The state has been starved for rain this summer, but relief is on the way.
According to the National Weather Service, Maine will receive a much needed soaking rain...
Finalists Announced For The Name Of Portland’s Hockey Team
Portland’s new hockey team is coming together. Recently, the team, which will play out of the city’s Cross Insurance Arena opened up their website for name suggestions. Well, it looks like there are five finalists.
Mariners (also the name of Portland’s original pro hockey team)
Watchmen (decent, but semi creepy)
Wild Blueberries (now really, WHO submitted this one?)

Elvis Passed Away 40 Years Ago Today
August 16th, 1977, the King of Rock 'n' Roll passed away at the age of 42. His concert in Portland for the 17th was sold out, and was to be Elvis's next stop. Sadly, a heart attack tragically took his life. He spent the morning going over details of the tour and was to fly out that afternoon. Elvis had been off the road for about six weeks, playing his final show in Indianapolis on June 26th.

Bee Battle: Cody Jinks vs. Scotty McCreery
Can anyone stop Cody Jinks? The Texas singer destroyed Walker Hayes by 95%. With one more week before retirement, he faces a new challenger. This week, the "I'm Not The Devil" singer (who plays Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend) takes on former American Idol Scotty McCreery. The singer, with Maine ties, brings out his new song "Five More Minutes." It's a song he wrote for his
Andy At The Capital Y Tri
Saturday was the Kennebec Valley Capital Y Tri, and B 98.5 had a few participants/teams on hand, me being one of them. Seeing as I'm a terrible swimmer, (I sink faster than a mafia snitch with a cinder block attached) the idea of doing a tri has always been out of reach. Plus, after being hit by a car a few years back, my running game has been next to zero. However, in the same vein as Chris Janso
Acadia Offers Park Violators A Second Chance
Have you ever received a parking ticket you didn't think you should've? Honestly, you didn't KNOW you couldn't park there, right? Yet, there it is, flapping in wind, a parking violation. Day ruined. Acadia Park is trying something new by offering violators a second chance.
After “Lobstah,” What’s Next?
It's the time of year when the roads are clogged with out of state visitors. Many of us have entertained friends and family, and there's always the inevitable first question: As a prepared Mainer, you have a token answer for them, and take them out for a good time. Thing is, they're around for more than a meal, and Maine has a ton of other great things to sample. What do you say when they ask, &qu
What Is Your First Sign Of Fall? (Poll)
The signs of Autumn are all here: All this week, we're giving away tickets to the 199th Skowhegan Fair. Yep, like or not, fair season has arrived! While the temps are recovering for the second half of the week, I caught myself closing the bedroom windows a few nights ago. Aside from rain, they're generally open/cracked most of summer. While Shipyard's Pumpkinhead has purposely not made an appearan
Andy Looks Back On The 25th Anniversary Of His First Air Shift
It's 10:42pm on a Saturday in August of 1992. I'm laying on the couch, and practicing the same words over and over. Endlessly rehearsing with different inflections, I still couldn't get it right. Being a nervous and introverted seventeen year old, you might think I was working up the nerve to talk to a girl on the one rotary phone in the house. See, that would make sense, right?
