Country News: Rodney Crowell Cancels Shows Due to Health

Rodney Crowell, who had 5 number 1 singles, all from his 1988 album Diamonds and Dirt, has cancelled the rest of his 2017 tour dates. On he doesn’t share exact details of his illness but says that dealing with the root cause of his health will require complete rest. Crowell’s song won song of the year at 2017 Americana Music Awards for his single ‘It Ain’t Over Yet.’

Country News: Carrie Underwood Being Sued Over Song

A pair of Canadian songwriters has filed a lawsuit against Carrie Underwood over one of her biggest hits. According to they claim they wrote a song called ‘Something in the Water’ and it is very similar to her hit song by the same name. They say they wrote the song in 2012 and sent to Underwood’s team but never heard back from them. They claim that Underwood is guilty of copyright infringement.

Country News: Sam Hunt to Receive a Special CMT Award

Sam Hunt will be awarded the first CMT Artist of the Year award for Song of the Year for his smash hit 'Body Like a Backroad.' In addition to being the longest running No. 1 by a solo artist in the history of Billboard’s Hot Country, the song was 2017’s most downloaded country song and also the country song with the most streams for the year. According to Hunt will receive the award during a special ceremony on October 8. The CMT Artist of the Year special will also recognize Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton and Luke Bryan.

Joe Walsh from the Eagles’ will hold a concert to coincide with his new foundation, VetsAid, with the help some powerful country stars. The VetAid benefit concert will be held September 20 in Fairfax, Virginia. reports Keith Urban and Zac Brown Band will perform for the in inaugural concert. Walsh created VetsAid as a nonprofit organization that aims to raise money for veterans and their families.
