Country News: More on Troy Gentry’s Death

The fatal helicopter ride that killed Montgomery Gentry’s Troy Gentry was a spur of the moment thing. According to experts are preparing a preliminary report, which will explain the details of the crash and will be released to the public soon. Shortly after takeoff the pilot did tell the airport he was having difficulty controlling the engine. A celebration of life event in Gentry’s honor is scheduled for Thursday September 14 at the Grand Ole Opry House and is open to the public.

Country News: Music City Skate Jam in Nashville Sunday

Kip Moore and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk are joining forces for Music City Skate Jam. The event is set for September 10th in Nashville and will now benefit Hurricane Harvey victims. According to the help will come via Moore and Hawk’s own charities.

Country News: Jo Dee Messina Reveals She Has Cancer

Jo Dee Messina revealed she has diagnosed with cancer. She said the diagnosis came recently but wasn’t specific on a timeline but she did say it has been a trying summer. According to Messina’s treatment plan are not known but they will begin this fall. Meanwhile she has cancelled all tour dates after October 7th.

Country News: Several Country Hurricane Harvey Benefit Concerts Coming

George Strait is holding a Hurricane Harvey benefit concert in San Antonio, Texas on September 12. Joining the King will be Maranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton and more to raise money for those affected by the storm. According to select performances including Strait’s will be broadcast as part of Hand in Hand: Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief taking place in L.A., New York and Nashville on the same night.

Country News: Country Stars Helping Houston Hurricane Victims

A lot of country stars are getting behind the recovery efforts of Hurricane Harvey. Alan Jackson’s Nashville bar started (hash tag) Honky Tonks 4 Texas for Harvey victims. George Strait teased he has something big coming for victims of the Hurricane saying: working on putting on relief efforts with the whole country music community.
