I am the News Director for the Townsquare Media/Augusta-Waterville stations and also the host of our public affairs show, "Issues," Sunday mornings! Make sure you come say "Hi" to me at one of our many live local broadcasts.
My boyfriend, significant other, whatever you want to call him was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As the support system to him on this, it has been an amazing journey of what goes on for a patient. Recently, his cancer journey has taken him to cancer class and chemotherapy. What a learning curve he is facing.
It is not secret, I love being at Mahala’s Day Spa, it’s fun and relaxing and I like the people. But they are all pros at what they do. However, the nail shellac they do at Mahala’s is just an amazing product, but now…Nancy Danforth is taking it to a whole new level with nail stamping. I mean, really, check out my nails! And with it being shellac, they will last for WEEKS and look perfect. Yes, it will last until they take it off.
It was just a few weeks ago we were talking about all the troubles in Atlanta, GA over some snow and ice. I hope that they are ready this time. They don’t really have the equipment to deal with that sort of weather, so I guess you just stay out of it until it warms a little and the ice and snow are gone.
I always love hearing about a great idea going that on and this is another perfect example of that, Healthy Maine Streets! The Healthy Maine Streets idea is building on the Maine Downtown Center’s efforts for revitalization downtowns can in turn help to revitalize the heath of those in those down-towns, especially employees in downtown businesses. Healthy people, healthy down-towns and vice versa, Healthy Maine Streets.
One of the projects of theKousinoc Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution is sending Valentines to those in the Veterans Homes. But they need your help. An email I received from a fellow DAR member (yes, I am DAR!) said the number of Valentines to Togus have fallen over the years. But if we all do an extra card or two we can change that.
Poor New York City, if someone has a way to promote something, New York City seems to be the target. Last week it was the 'walkers' from The Walking Dead in a street grate, a few weeks ago a demonic baby promoting some movie. Now its a the Chobani bear and his is not happy because his is a discerning bear who only eats food made with natural ingredients! Really? Do bears even like yogurt?
Boone County Schools in Kentucky rock, literally! Check out this video of their ‘no school’ message this week. They have seen a number of no school days because of snow and cold. So they decided to make this robo-call message awesome!
I am 48 and it was just over two months ago cancer made itself known in my circle. Not me, my boyfriend. (How is that possible I made it to this age and have known none first hand with cancer? Amazing.) But now, I am getting front right seat to cancer and treatment. So here is how this story starts
The Augusta Food Bank has been helping Augusta and Manchester since 1981, but as needs have been growing and growing the donations are now down. Ouch. I was reading in the KJ this weekend that the Augusta Food Bank ended January $2000 in the red. Double ouch!!
