I am the News Director for the Townsquare Media/Augusta-Waterville stations and also the host of our public affairs show, "Issues," Sunday mornings! Make sure you come say "Hi" to me at one of our many live local broadcasts.
Do you ever meet someone you just HAVE to hug? I did. Her name is Hallie Twomey. That good-looking young man pictured is her son, CJ. Hallie is the Auburn woman and CJ committed suicide in April of 2010. As part of her 'journey' the 'Scatter CJ' movement developed.
I know a fair amount about retirement living. I had great interest in the retirement community my mother had chosen. It made me think about such matters for my own future. I have to admit, the communities I know about are wonderful. If it were not for that age limit, I would consider moving now! But, alas, I am still too young!
The Augusta Dog Park has a problem with what I call the ‘poo-poo heads’. They are the people who do not pick up after their dogs. As a result the Augusta Dog Park is temporarily shut down. It was a sad day for the all-volunteer Augusta Dog Park Committee to make the recommendation to the city. But it was needed. There was the dog waste and some had been spotted with worms. So the park is closed until spring and a good cleaning can take place.
Dogs are amazing. This is an ad for guide dogs from Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation showing the assistance a trained dog can offer in helping a military veteran who is coping with severe war related trauma. OH the tag line? "We not only help people who cannot see, but also those who have seen too much"....Ya, that got me going! Pass the tissues, please.
My boyfriend, significant other, whatever you want to call him was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As the support system to him on this, it has been an amazing journey of what goes on for a patient. Recently, his cancer journey has taken him to cancer class and chemotherapy. What a learning curve he is facing.
It is not secret, I love being at Mahala’s Day Spa, it’s fun and relaxing and I like the people. But they are all pros at what they do. However, the nail shellac they do at Mahala’s is just an amazing product, but now…Nancy Danforth is taking it to a whole new level with nail stamping. I mean, really, check out my nails! And with it being shellac, they will last for WEEKS and look perfect. Yes, it will last until they take it off.
It was just a few weeks ago we were talking about all the troubles in Atlanta, GA over some snow and ice. I hope that they are ready this time. They don’t really have the equipment to deal with that sort of weather, so I guess you just stay out of it until it warms a little and the ice and snow are gone.
I always love hearing about a great idea going that on and this is another perfect example of that, Healthy Maine Streets! The Healthy Maine Streets idea is building on the Maine Downtown Center’s efforts for revitalization downtowns can in turn help to revitalize the heath of those in those down-towns, especially employees in downtown businesses. Healthy people, healthy down-towns and vice versa, Healthy Maine Streets.
