Party Pancakes!

I may have had Veteran's Day off but that doesn't mean I wasn't hopping at home! It's not every day I get to stay home with my son, Anderson, and spend an ENTIRE day with him. But each day I do, I want to make it as special as possible!

He loves pancakes. He would eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I let him. What can I say? Mama makes good cakes!

’8th of November’ on the 8th of November

Big 'n Rich are probably best known for their 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy', the song that took country music by surprise and by storm. But don't be fooled. They don't just have a fun side. Big Kenny and John Rich are intelligent writers. The song '8th of November' shows just how deep they care about America and its veterans.

First ‘Stove Up’…Now ‘Gross Out?’

Sitting around the table last night, I was talking with Chad and Amber. I was telling them how when I moved to Maine in 1983 when I was 8, I had to learn about Maine things. Being only little, I learned that sprinkles for your ice cream were actually called 'jimmies.'

There are many more things I have learned over the years, especially recently!

On Sunday at The Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls, I was proud to be on hand to accept the awards presented to our station. The venue was packed with local musicians and country music enthusiasts of all ages.

Between each award we were treated to a musical number, either by the winner of the previous award or other very talented musicians. What a great afternoon!

Tanksgiving Sharon in Box

Sharon Buck at Tanksgiving Day 1

The first day of 'TANKS'giving is always the hardest. Glitches, feedback, burnt out lights and the cold! Looking at the weather all weekend it said sunny and highs of 44 degrees. That's pretty warm compared to a few 'TANKS'givings we've had in the past. Last year we were spoiled with great weather.

This year, it looks like it's going to be a challenge! BRING IT, MOTHER NATURE!

Writing Songs…Can You Do It?

With the CMA Awards last night, everyone is talking about the 'Song of the Year' award going to Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert for their collaboration "Over You" written about the death of Blake's brother. Such a heartfelt song and it has touched many.

There are many songs that are taken from real life experiences. The beginning of Eric Church's song Creepin' came from when he woke up on his porch after a night of drinking and there was a honeybee literally beating on his screen door. That's what songwriters will tell you: write what you know. But some songwriters want to take a more unconventional approach.

Here's your chance!

Halloween Family

Halloween Was a Scream on Burleigh Street!

Being the parent of a 6 year old has it's advantages. When I was little, I went trick-o-treating maybe 3 times. And that's when I was around 15. My parents never really let us out of the house. They liked to keep us safe so handing out the candy was our job.

But now that Anderson is at the age where he can carry his own pumpkin, I wanted to really get out there and experience what a Halloween was REALLY like. So Burleigh Street in Waterville was the place to be!

Everyone Has a Twin…Sharon Definitely Does!

I've heard that I look like many people...mostly someone you know. "Sharon, you look just like my neice that lives in New Jersey!" I get that alot. In high school, I used to be called Steve Perry from the rock group Journey. I'm not sure that was a flattering thing but I did have the wings in my hair.

Just recently, I heard I look like Mariah Carey. THAT'S funny. But there is always one lady I will ALWAYS look like.
