Lori is a hero to many local people who are suffering from the worst news of their life - they have cancer. In 2010, a patron of her cafe offered to donate money to a mutual friend if Lori agreed to shave her head, so she held a small fundraiser and did shave her head. This event has grown into an annual event to offer financial assistance to local people battling cancer. The event bears the name of the original recipient and Lori's dear friend, Joy Mehuren, who succumbed to lung cancer in 2011. Each year ALL of the proceeds are donated to local cancer victims. Lori's tireless dedication to those in our community who are battling a horrible disease makes her my hero.
