A big Bee salute to our latest 'Hometown Hero' powered by the O'Connor Auto Park.

Michael Theriault

Madison

Mike Theriault of Madison is a Hometown Hero because he is all about community service. Mike has served his communities in the past as a firefighter/EMT and fire chief. He coaches youth sports year round and is an active member of the Madison School District's Parent/Teacher group. Mike's greatest gift to the community and the state as a whole is through his work as a member of the local Masonic Lodge. In 2006, Mike started Bikes for Books, a reading incentive program at Madison Elementary School. That year, the Bikes for Books program gave 10 brand new Huffy bikes and helmets to readers at MES. Through Mike's tireless efforts, in the seven years since, the Bikes for Books program has grown to over 70 Masonic lodges statewide. In 2013, Bikes for Books programs in Maine gave away over 1000 new bikes and helmets to student readers grades K-8. None of this would have happened if not for Mike's hard work and dedication to kids, education and our community.
