Bald eagles freed after clashing in Augusta fight

Police say two American bald eagles are free after clashing in a fight over territory in Augusta that required the intervention of a game warden and an animal control officer.

The Augusta Police Department says on its Facebook page that the eagles were locked together by their talons during a fight Tuesday afternoon near Arsenal Street on the east side of Maine's capital city.

Authorities say a game warden and an animal control officer threw blankets over the birds and separated them. The eagles were later seen flying over the Augusta Arsenal near the Kennebec River. (AP)
