Former Bangor police chief Don Winslow and his wife Dora were surprised along the Bangor Waterfront Tuesday (June 17) night.

Winslow recently stopped chemotherapy treatments. The couple have both battled cancer in recent years. Doctors have told the former chief that his cancer has resurfaced in his lungs.

According to the Bangor Daily News:

...about 100 friends, supporters and former colleagues jumped out from hiding behind trees and the inflatable Bangor Band amphitheater to put on a performance — a show of appreciation, respect and love.
They danced to a choreographed routine that had been rushed together in the hour before the Winslows showed up. The song lineup included 'Love Train' by The O’Jays, 'U Can’t Touch This' by M.C. Hammer, 'We are Family' by Sister Sledge and 'Thank You for Being a Friend' by Andrew Gold.
