BEWARE – Use Caution When You Accept Friend Requests On Facebook!!

Scammers are making duplicate Facebook accounts.  It's easy to do.  They could use a friends, a family members or even your information to do it.  All they need is your name and the pictures you have as your profile and cover images.  After that, they friend request those on your friends list.

For many, when they get a repeat friend request from someone they are already friends with, they don't think twice about it.  But this morning, when it happened to me...it immediately raised a red flag.  So I checked out the profile of this new request.  It proved to be a fake account.  So I blocked it.

Make sure you have your account marked as private.  Make sure you use your best judgement before accepting any friend requests.  If you feel you are already friends with this person, check your list and verify.  If you are getting a duplicate request, let your friend know and report the account immediately.

Also, while this may seem like basic knowledge for you, make sure you talk to your kids about safety with social media.
