The New England Patriots are gearing up for the kick-off of a new season. Today was a day of big smiles for Aaron Hernandez, but frowns for others. The former 4th rounder inked a contract extension while others said goodbye. It was a big cut-down day. The roster had to be trimmed to 75 and some long time favorites were let go.Receivers Jabar Gaffney and Donte Stallworth, both braought back to rekindle some 'Brady Magic' were cut. Also let go was long time defensive lineman Gerard Warren.

The biggest surprise out of Foxboro was the new contract for tight end Aaron Hernandez. He finalized a five-year, $40 million contract extension and called it one of the best days of his life. According to the Boston Globe, he said, "It's an honor and it seems so surreal like, 'Is it really true?' It's just a dream and knowing I can help my family, they're the ones who I love, it's just an honor."
