BlackHawk’s ‘Baby, the Rain Must Fall’ Features the Late Van Stephenson – Exclusive Song Premiere

Blackhawk
Loud and Proud Records

Henry Paul and Dave Robbins of the country group BlackHawk are sharing a new song from the band’s upcoming album, ‘Brothers of the Southland.’ ‘Baby, the Rain Must Fall’ also features the late Van Stephenson, who died in 2001 after battling cancer. Listen to the track during this Taste of Country exclusive premiere.

‘Brothers of the Southland’ is BlackHawk’s first record in twelve years. ‘Baby, the Rain Must Fall’ is a rare demo track featuring Stephenson, who passed away from melanoma one year after he left BlackHawk to undergo treatment. The song is one of three tracks that feature the late singer and guitarist.

“This song is special to me because it was one of the first songs Henry, Van and I got to write together,” Robbins tells Taste of Country. “The song marks the start of Blackhawk — we wrote it before the band had even formed. The song was beginning to shape the sound that Blackhawk would become, and it always takes me back to the three of us together in the beginning.”

The multi-platinum group made a splash in the country music scene in 1993 with their eponymous album and Top 10 hit single ‘Goodbye Says It All.’ With ‘Baby the Rain Must Fall,’ the band is going back to their roots, back to the beginning.

Paul adds, “It’s emotional to release music that goes back to the beginning of the band. The song calls to mind some very good memories. Songs like ‘Baby, The Rain Must Fall’ and others from that time period were the building blocks for the band today. I love to go back and listen to that song and let the memories wash over me.”

‘Brothers of the Southland’ will be available for purchase on July 8, and tour dates can be found on their website.
