The man who co-founded the natural cosmetics company Burt's Bees has died at age 80. According to the Associated Presss, a  company spokeswoman says Burt Shavitz died Sunday at his home in Maine. Shavitz was a hippie making a living by selling honey when he teamed up with Roxanne Quimby, who began making products from Shavitz's beeswax. Their business partnership ended after the business moved in 1994 to North Carolina. In 2007, Clorox purchased Burt's Bees for $925 million.

The company confirmed Burt's death on its Facebook page.
