Back To School

A school district, in South Carolina, is taking away snow days.  How can they do that,  you ask...snow days will be replaced with online classes.  If students don't have internet...that's OK.  Here's how it works:

This question always sparks a fire.  But I think it's something worth taking into consideration.  Schools across the country require their students to wear a uniform or follow a strict 'dress code'.  But should they?  Look, I'll be upfront and honest with my opinion.  YES.

It's not going to be easy, don't let that stop you.

My oldest is a grad student at the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL.   Apparently this is not only a Big 10 school, it's also a cultural hub for Opera singers. Kimberly is a New England girl through and through living in the heartland now...

Interesting question.  Should public schools in Maine require kids to wear a uniform?  Clearly, uniforms are popular throughout the country because every store I go into has a section that sells the khaki or navy pants and the white shirts.  I often wonder, why don't we enforce this in our schools.

My morning show partner Sarah posted a video about changes she would like to see about school scheduling. I completely disagree with what she is saying.

I'm not sure what other schools are doing are doing around the state and in central Maine.  But, I have seen some announcing that they are pulling the Teacher Workshop scheduled for tomorrow.  That is not the case for Augusta, since my kids go there.  But, I agree with the decision other schools have made.

Hussey School is clearly working hard on instilling proper manners.  It's working!  My daughter, Chloe, was reciting the rules this morning...now I've heard her do this before...but always thought #5 was one that she added.  Maybe her teacher squeaked it in there.  But, #5 is, in fact, a real rule at Hussey School in Augusta and I love it!

My biggest pet peeve of the kids going back to school...Picture Day!!  My kids haven't even been in school for a full week and I'm already getting notices that picture day is coming!  The notices aren't even pieces of paper sent home in their folders.  No, these are emails.  They do emails now!!  Not just once...but 6 times.  So, my phone dings as though I'm getting an test message...I look...PICT
