March 18, 2013 Maine gas prices slowly dropped this week. The price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reported this week that the average retail price of a gallon of gas has fallen by more than a penny in the past week to an average of $3.76.

The Royal College of Art in London engineering students developed a tent that is blown-up using a fan, and then can be hardened into concrete within 24 hours after adding water. The tents can be shipped in a box to anywhere in the world and would be the perfect shelter that can be assembled in a very short time.
March 14, 2013 The country of China and Walt Disney Company are partnering to build the Shanghai Disney Resort at a cost of $4.4 billion. This will be a first for Disney in mainland China with a completion date set for 2018. The Shanghai Shendi Group of China will own 57 per cent of the resort and Disney the rest and the financing will be proportional to the investments. Disney will hold 70% of the management company though.
March 12, 2013 Marshmallow Peeps, the Easter treat, is turning 60 years old this year. The Peep was invented by the Rodda Candy Company in 1953, a year later it was bought by the current owner, Just Born. Bob Born, the owner, liked the way the Peeps looked, so he bought the company in 1954. Born had a machine made that would mass produce the Peeps and trademarked the name.
March 11, 2013 Maine gas prices dropped two cents per gallon this past to an average of $3.78 per gallon, that's according to the price monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com. While that is good news, Maine's average price per gallon is still 14 cents higher per gallon than the national average.

Hostess filed for bankruptcy in January 2012 and this past November they shut down all of their operations. Including the Biddeford plant which employed 400 people. There is potential good news for those workers, Flowers Foods Inc., a Georgia based company, placed a bid of $360 million for five of Hostess' bread brands, including Wonder and Nature's Pride. The bid also included 38 warehouses and 20 bakeries.

February 22, 2013 The FBI raided the Scooter Store headquarters in Texas as the company is under investigation for illegally making hundreds of millions of dollars off the federal government and Medicare. Workers were told to leave the building immediately, but some were called back for interviews and most employees didn’t have any idea what was going on, they were handed a flyer telling them to contact the FBI for further information.
February 22, 2013 The grand opening was held yesterday for the new home for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in its new office in front of the Walmart store in Farmington. Walmart manager Greg Patterson told the Lewsiton Sun-Journal that he approached the corporation's home office last year with the idea of renting the small office space, accessible only from outside the store, to the chamber.
