Maine CDC Launches Ebola Website

The Maine Center for Disease Control has launched a new website focused on the Ebola virus. Dr. Sheila Pinette of the CDC says the hope is that the site will educate Mainers about the virus and allay some fears.

It is that time again, we will be selecting a Teacher of the Month.  Congratulations to our current teacher, Mrs. Rachel Roberge from St. John Catholic School in Winslow.  Somebody nominated her and then she was selected.  Very easy and it's always nice to be recognized for your hard word.  Teachers play such important roles in the lives of our children.

Gov. LePage is taking some time off from the campaign trail this weekend to open up his home for the 4th annual Blaine House food drive. Mainers are invited to drop off non-perishable goods and get a tour of the Blaine House in Augusta from the governor between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The food drive at the Blaine House will also be held on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.

Messalonskee Strong: Community Supports Familes Involved in Tragic Hayride Accident

Investigators are blaming a mechanical problem for the Halloween-themed hayride crash Saturday night (Oct. 11) in Mechanic Falls that killed 17-year-old Cassidy Charette of Oakland and injured many others. The state fire marshal’s office says investigators are trying to figure out exactly why the Jeep towing the hay wagon wouldn’t or couldn’t stop, going down a hill in the woods and struck a tree.
