I am really a quiet and shy person, but I grew up loving wrestling and I thought that this would be a fun opportunity that wouldn't come my way again. I agreed to do it and I am already getting excited and nervous!

Halloween Was a Scream on Burleigh Street!

Being the parent of a 6 year old has it's advantages. When I was little, I went trick-o-treating maybe 3 times. And that's when I was around 15. My parents never really let us out of the house. They liked to keep us safe so handing out the candy was our job.

But now that Anderson is at the age where he can carry his own pumpkin, I wanted to really get out there and experience what a Halloween was REALLY like. So Burleigh Street in Waterville was the place to be!

The History Of Daylight Savings Time

With daylight savings time coming to an end this Sunday morning. It got me wondering how did it start in the first place? It's a popular belief that the first idea of daylight savings time was conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784. He published an essay titled 'An Economical Project for Diminshing the Cost of Light' it proposed to economize the use of candles by rising earlier to make use of the morning sunlight.

Squirrel Population Growth Causing Havoc

There’s a baby boom going on with grey squirrels in the Northeast and fruit growers say their up to no good. The population growth is due to the mild winter and a bumper crop of nuts. The growth is the largest some experts have seen in 33 years. The squirrels go after more than just nuts, they love apples and can eat half a trees fruit in about three hours.  Squirrels not only eat crops but they can also kill trees like at South Carolina University, more than 100 mature trees have been killed in the past several years by grey squirrels.

Getting Ready for Central Maine’s Largest Food Drive, ‘Tanksgiving’

I started working at B-98.5 in August of 2000 and that November we started our annual 'Tanksgiving Food Drive' with the Maine Army National Guard. The idea was that of Randy McCoy's former morning co-host, Genny Judge. That first year, Genny lived in the tank at Camp Keyes, through cold and rain as we collected non-perishable food for Central Maine.

Spirit Halloween With the Kids

Sometimes shopping with children isn't the easiest thing to do (think a grocery store with 3 energetic kids). But when you are just as excited to go somewhere as they are, it makes  a difference!

The Spirit Halloween store in the Shaw's Plaza on KMD in Waterville is so much fun to explore! The kids couldn't decide what they wanted to be there were so many choices. I was wondering if they would be the standard things like ghosts, vampires, zombies which are all very popular right now.  Well each kid has their own personality.
