Maine Army National Guard Breaks Record!

While at the Walmart in Augusta at the Augusta Marketplace, the Maine Army National Guard is helping out our 'Tanks'giving Food Drive. Last year, PFC Julia Morrison did a pushup for every dollar that was donated. And, even though her shoulder is hurting, she has decided to try and break the record this year.

And her fellow soldiers decided to join in!

When we go out each day with the Maine Army National Guard and stand out front of supermarkets, we treat everyone the same. We ask everyone to make a donation of non-perishable food items and/or cash for the Salvation Army and local area food banks. You never know what might happen.

B98.5, Maine Army National Guard Tanksgiving Food Drive, November 4-8

As we get ready to start our 14th annual Tanksgiving food drive there are some alarming facts about hunger in Maine. Ten years ago 9 percent of the state’s population, about 53,000, didn’t have enough food to put on their table. That number has jumped to 15 percent today, or 132,000 Mainer’s.

The idea of daylight saving goes back to Ben Franklin in 1784 but the Daylight Saving Time we have now began during WWll when President Franklin Roosevelt instituted a year-round Daylight Saving Time known as ‘War Time’.
