Randy’s College Football Bowl Games Wrap Up

Three more bowl games are in the books, The Heart of Dallas Bowl, the Quick Lane Bowl and the St. Petersburg Bowl.  In two of the games the team with the winning record won and in the third, one team dominated for three quarters and a try for a come back in the fourth came up short.

Randy’s College Football Bowl Games

College football bowl games will take a rest on Christmas Day but the day after there are three games scheduled. The Quick Lane Bowl from Detroit will pit Rutgers (7-5) against North Carolina (6-6). Rutgers during the regular season rallied from a 35-10 deficit against Maryland to win 41-38, the biggest comeback in school history.

Randy’s College Football Wrap Up

Two more bowl game played in this early part of the season. In the Poinsettia Bowl Navy beat San Diego State 17-16. Navy had a 13 yard gain on a crucial fourth down on the game-winning drive. It was a sloppy game by both teams with 7 turnovers in the game.

Until the Christmas of 1880 Christmas trees when decorated with candles. As you can imagine that would be quite dangerous having lighted candles on a dry tree. Thomas Edison, who invented the incandescent bulb in 1879, hung a string of electric lights outside his lab in New Jersey and that was the beginning of electric lights at Christmas.

College Bowl game on today, it’s the Miami Beach Bowl. BYU at 8-4 takes on Memphis at 9-3. BYU had an up and down season, starting with 4 wins then losing 4 in a row. Memphis finished the season win 6 straight wins and their best season after coming off 4 straight losing seasons.
