Barbara Thorpe of Dixfield, Maine passed away in 2002 and left a majority of her $150,000 estate to cats. She wanted to make sure local feral cats were taken care of but according to the cats’ current caretaker, they’ve seen very little of the money.

When Thorpe was alive she would help Brenda Jarvis take care of cats with a donation saying it was for the kittens. Upon her death she wanted her money to go to help take of cats but its been 13 years and still little money has come.

There are three trustees responsible for the money Thorpe left behind and Jarvis has filed suit against the estates trustees.

Jarvis and the rest of the caretakers are hopeful they'll win their suit and see the money. But even if they don't, they say they're going to find a way to keep doing what they're doing.
