Tonight's (Tuesday) episode of CBS' "48 Hours" will feature the NCIS and Maine State Police investigation into the 1983 murder of a U.S Navy Chief Petty Officer.

According to WGME, the episode will focus on the shooting death of 46 year old Mervin “Sonny” Grotton.  He was shot three times by a gunman hiding behind his woodpile as he walked toward his home.

The murder went unsolved for 17 years, until an undercover investiagtion lead to the indictments of 3 people, including Grotton's wife:  Norma Grotton Small.  In the end, she was the only one convicted.  She was sentenced to 70 years in prison.
