Maine state police have arrested a New York man in the killings of an Augusta couple who were found shot to death early on Christmas Day in Manchester.
David Marble Jr. was charged with murder in the deaths of Eric Williams and Bonnie Royer, who were shot inside an SUV. Officials say the killings were drug related but won't comment further. (AP)

The Augusta Police Department is currently looking for help locating and checking the welfare of Brianna K. Wilson. She is 19, 5’03” and weighs approximately 100 pounds. She has not been seen since 12/21 when she was involved in a car accident in southern Maine. She is originally from the Pownal area but is known to spend a lot of time in the Augusta area.

A bill expected to go before the Legislature next month would expand Medicaid in Maine to include more low-income residents. The proposal would bring in about $200 million a year in federal funds to buy health insurance for people earning about $18,000 to $24,000 a year. Also, Augusta Republican Sen. Roger Katz says he wants to get a federal waiver to pay for drug treatment. (AP)

Some fire officials hope lawmakers will consider measures aimed to attract more volunteers and allow departments to remain financially afloat. Small towns throughout Maine are facing a shortage of trained firefighters and aging volunteer ranks. The Morning Sentinel says that the Maine Fire Protection Services Commission is recommending among other things, that lawmakers consider giving volunteers workers compensation coverage and eligibility for state employee health insurance programs. Gov. Paul LePage has nominated Col. Douglas Farnham to serve as adjutant general, the leader of the Maine National Guard. Farnham has been the wing commander of the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor for three years. He is a graduate of Brewer High School and the United States Air Force Academy. LePage says Farnham has 31 years of military service. (AP)

Another drug bust... agents made three arrests and seized a large amount of crack in a drug raid on a Horseshoe Lane, Deer Isle home. Shannon Gray and Michael Brown, both of Deer Isle, were arrested as was Barry Glover of the Bronx. Agents put the street value of the drugs at $25,000. (WABI)
