(AP) -- Gov. Paul LePage is taking his town hall-style forums to a live TV audience. LePage will be participating in an unscripted event in which he'll take questions Tuesday evening on WVII-TV in Bangor. The idea is for Mainers to hear directly from the governor about his vision for the state. The event will be streamed live online so people outside WVII's coverage area can watch. It is an expansion of the town hall forums and isn't a substitute for the State of the State address. LePage previously said he's going to take a pass on delivering the State of the State address live to lawmakers. Instead, he's going to submit a letter in coming weeks.

(AP) — A federal civil trial in Chicago is pitting two panhandlers against one of the nation's largest sheriff's departments. Kim Pindak and Sam Phillips claim they lost up to $10 a day over four years because Cook County sheriff's deputies told them repeatedly they couldn't ask for money at the popular Daley Plaza. Pindak says he's been forced to supplement his income by begging because all but $30 of his $750-a-month federal disability assistance goes toward paying living expenses at an assisted-living facility.
