It has been a year of firsts for rising country star Chris Stapleton, and now he can add being the musical guest on Saturday Night Live to the list. The singer performed "Parachute" and "Nobody To Blame" on Saturday night (Jan. 16).

After the first half hour of sketches, Stapleton performed "Parachute," an album cut from the Traveller album. He then closed the show by performing "Nobody To Blame," his current single and biggest radio hit of his career. Wife Morgane was nearby adding background vocals as she often does. He seemed to quickly get over nerves if he had any and by the first chorus he was the same singer fans saw at the 2015 CMA Awards.

Stapleton has had some pretty noteworthy and very public performances lately, including his two-song set with Justin Timberlake during the 2015 CMA Awards, his appearance at the Salute to John Lennon concert which aired on AMC, and most recently his Nashville New Year's Eve performance on Lower Broadway opening for Kings of Leon.

If you've missed any of these appearances, don't worry. Stapleton has plenty more coming up. He'll be present at the 2016 Grammy Awards where he is nominated for Album of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Album. He will also be a part of the ACM Party For A Cause lineup in early April as well as an act on the upcoming Coachella Music and Arts festival.

Stapleton released his debut album, Traveller in May 2015. That album earned him the title of CMA New Artist of the Year as well as CMA Album of the Year. The past eight months have been crazy for the up and comer, and we're so excited to see what the rest of 2016 has in store for him.
