Chubby Checker Thinks He Should be in Rock The Hall of Fame
Chubby Checker says he belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they better do it soon or they can drop dead. Checker doesn’t want to be inducted when he’s 85 years old, he wants it now while he’s 72 and still able to perform.
Chubby Checker, the singer of ‘The Twist’ and it’s follow-up ‘Let’s Twist Again’, are considered among the most popular songs in Rock and Roll history. ‘The Twist’ was the first song to win a Grammy Award in 1962. He thinks being added to the Hall will give a boost to his career and allow him to keep performing like the Rolling Stone, Hall and Oates and others who are in the Hall and still tour.
Hall and Oates where inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and commented they were the first from Philadelphia to be inducted, they are from the same town Chubby Checker is from. During a Song Writers Gala in New York recently, Checker performed the song ‘The Twist’ for the ASCAP Centennial, he commented if he’s too old when he gets put into the Hall, then it doesn’t do him any good.
