This has to be the strangest case of a drive-by shooting in the history of drive- by shootings. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus were at a show in Tupelo, Mississippi, when a circus elephant was hit by a drive- by shooter. The Asian elephant named Carol was in an outside area at the Tupelo Arena when a dive-by shooter opened fire on the area and hit Carol.

A spokeswoman for the circus said Carol was not seriously wounded and no other animals were injured but police in the area are concerned. Police Chief Tony Carleton said the shooting occurred around 2am. as a vehicle drove past the area and opened fire.  PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a $5,000 reward leading to the conviction of those responsible along with a $250 reward that has already been offered.
